Hyderabad: TPCC star campaigner Vijayashanthi’s opinion about the Congress alliance with the Telugu Desam was proved in the Assembly results announced on December 11.

She had openly opposed the alliance with the TD. She had stated that the people of Telangana state were against TD president and AP Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and the party. She said if the Congress tied up with the TD, the anti-Naidu mood of the people would reflect on Congress and it will affect the prospects of its candidates.

When Telangana Congress leaders were discussing the alliance with TD she wrote to the High Command requesting the party leadership not to have an alliance with the TD. But Congress High Command went ahead with the kutami plan against her request.

After that, Ms Vijayashanti did not speak about the issue openly once the high command gave the green signal. In the discussions with party leaders she repeatedly said that the alliance with TD would be to the disadvantage of the Congress.

It was only after the results on Friday that some Congress leaders accepted that Ms Vijayashanthi was right. If the Congress had fought on its own, the Telangana sentiment would not have become the election agenda and the TRS would have no chance to campaign on self-respect.

Because of Mr Naidu the TRS brought in the Telangana issue and people believed the campaign said a Congress leader.
